Positivity!

Oh, wait! This team is only "mostly dead".

Wow. What a fucking game! Who would have guessed that I could attend a Ducks/Sharks game where Joe Thornton fought but Jody Shelley wouldn't? Great work by Steve Montador and Brad May in each instance.

Add in a Giguere shutout and a Pahlsson out-of-the-box breakaway goal (plus I didn't lose my wallet), and guess what I'm feeling? Some goddamn positivity!

Go Ducks.

Didn't Shelley fight Parros in the first period? Don't tell me that if Shelley dropped the gloves and skated up to May, May wouldn't be happy to just smile at him and let him take the minor.

Holy fuck.. what's wrong with the universe?

Pahlsson actually scored?
Joe Thornton fought?
Barack Obama had an affair with Sarah Palin?*

Great f-ing game. Just imagine if that had been opening night, we'd be celebrating and the Sharks would be worried that they might suck this year. Perhaps that's too bold, but I did say "imagine".

I don't know what you guys saw on TV, but Shelley was all over Pronger when the puck was on the other end of the rink. I can't believe that in itself wasn't called.

With my penalty box window, I told Brad May two things. (a) Don't worry, Shelley is going to hell for that, and (b) Best penalty this team has taken all year.

I certainly don't think Mayday would have done that (you have the Ducks confused for a team that cares about penalties); you're probably thinking of Sean Avery.

My usher has no idea about BoC, but she's totally into the green shirt karma, and demanded that I show up again on Sunday. Unfortunately, I don't think I'm scheduled for another game until next month.

Pahlsson actually scored?

Pahlsson had a fantastic breakaway move! In fact, next time there's a shootout, I'm hoping Sammy gets a shot at it.

Hey, random question, Sleek: was that really Mark McGwire from this post two years ago (http://battleofcalifornia.blogspot.com/2006/10/belated-memories-of-game-one.html)?

Totally Mark McGwire! I couldn't make stuff like that up.

One of my friends talked to him a little that game, enough to know that he was invited by Pronger; apparently they were friends back from when they were both superstars in St. Louis.

I've never seen Mark back there again, though (I'm not there that often to check), but once I saw Lindsey Davenport sitting in those seats as well.

Didn't notice anybody famous there last night, though.

Actually KDOC in all of their difficulties of continually cutting in and out during the first half of the game, the announcers did a good enough job to go back and show what led up to the May minor.

BTW: I think I recall seeing May chatting with someone outside of the penalty box when he was in there... it was a brief shot before they went back to the game or commercial, but definitely he was acknowledging someone in the stands. ^_^

Yeah, that was definitely directed at me. Unfortunately, it's quite difficult to understand what players are saying in there, and if I had to guess, I think he said something like, "What did you think he was going to do?" or something.

Good work, KDOC.
