I Forgot an Alternate Definition for "Fuck"
Fuck- when your best defenseman injures his shoulder and misses 3 months. FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK
The Kings picked up Kyle Quincey from the Detroit Red Wings to take Johnson's spot. He's young (23) and played in the AHL last season. I don't know what to think of him; he had a ton of penalty minutes last season and was waived to make room for Dorian Grey Chris Chelios. I think he could potentially be a bottom-pairing defenseman in the NHL so I imagine the Kings will give him some time to prove himself in the NHL. I think the Kings are going to need to move someone to make room for a new contract though.
This is catastrophic for the Kings. The Kings are now even worse on defense and there's not much they can do about it. Johnson was expected to play ~25 minutes a game and in all situations. It'll be interesting to see how the Kings respond to this. I know how I'm going to respond to this:

I think the Tavares sweepstakes has an official early season favorite.
Is the fact that McLaren got waived again related to this?
maybe it is the curse of the Johnson (insert joke here) since Erik had his golf cart accident and is out for the season.
Lombardi traded for McLaren when he came to the Sharks, as a guy they "coveted." I know Doug Wilson probably doesn't much like the idea of McLaren being in the same division, but the Kings are the most logical destination for McLaren, and were even before Johnson got injured.
I was expecting this to be a Sleek post with the alternate definition being "Ducks"...
Quincey played well for us two years ago when Schneider and Kronwall went down during the playoffs. He was somewhat mediocre last season but I think he's got some potential. I'm a bit surprised that the Wings couldn't get anything for him. Apparently they needed to move him quick because of cap issues for whatever reason. He's a better pickup for you guys than Ellis was last year
Kings fans are among some of my favorite hockey fans anywhere. They deserve much better than the luck they are continuously subjected to.
Yeah Quincey isn't bad, just a product of having an incredibly talented, durable, and deeper than the ocean defensive corps. He's ok. Probably would be better if he actually got to play and learn alongside some of those DET defensemen, instead of being stuck leading the group down in Grand Rapids.
"Quincey will be a regular on the top 4D by seasons end."
First they snatch up Blake, then they take out the only defenseman on the team that picked up his advice and experience. We're fucked.
I don't think that the defense was as bad as the offense though. Shots on goal were horrible.
Maybe instead of going to the locker room, some of the younger players can play with the kids during intermission.
