Kings Close to Hiring Terry Murray

...Who's Terry Murray?

Apparently, Terry Murray is a former coach of the Flyers, Caps and Panthers. I'm pretty sure he was the one that called Eric Lindros a choker after they got their asses kicked by Detroit and was fired. He's had 9 seasons in the NHL and only one of them has been a losing one, so that's a plus. He was an assistant coach with Philadelphia prior to this so we know he has a working relationship with both Dean Lombardi and Ron Hextall.

Oh, and he's Bryan Murray's brother.

I have no idea how this is going to work out because I don't know too much about Murray's philosophy or anything like that, but hey, at least the Kings will have a coach now. Welcome aboard, Terry Murray. Try not to fuck up.

The sky's the limit!

I suppose the only thing left before this becomes official is that Ron Hextall needs to be signed to a 2-year extension as the team's starting netminder, right?

Funny you should mention that, especially in light of my guest post, because the latest from E.J. Hradek says:

Lombardi could help his new coach by making a strong pitch to the Blackhawks for goalie Nikolai Khabibulin, who'll likely be available due to the free-agent arrival of Cristobal Huet in the Windy City. The Kings are desperate for a legitimate No. 1 goalie to serve as a stop-gap until top prospect Jonathan Bernier is ready to take on the challenge. Khabibulin has only one year ($6.75 million) left on his current contract. The Kings, who haven't yet reached the salary floor for next season, would have no problem taking on those dollars.

Once again, E.J. Hradek could avoid making an ass of himself by checking out Rich Hammond's site. In fact, Rich dispelled this rumor TWO WEEKS AGO.

All of which proves, yet again, that I (and everyone else who reads this blog) know way too much to write for ESPN or have a show on the NHL Network, apparently.

Labarbera is better than Khabibulin.

We know how frugal Anshultz is, this way he only has to white out And and fill in Terr on the business cards.

This is a horrible idea.

Bring on Murray.. heck, they could sign me and I'd probably win as many games at the All-Star break as Crawford won all last year
