I Love the Salary Cap
Buried in Puck Daddy's live chat yesterday was this quote by David Pagnotta, in reference to where Mathieu Schneider might be heading:
Ducks and Kings have spoken about it. Just spoke to a source early today and the Ducks are trying to move him to LA before the Hawks ship Khabby there.
I hope this becomes an annual thing, where teams fight each other to make trades that make their teams worse.

Afterall nothing sells the NHL like more bad teams...

I'm sure the holdup was that Burke didn't want to make the trade while I was busy moving. Such a sweetie, that Burkie.
How the hell are you still moving?
Oh no, it's all done now, just the last couple of weekends have still involved odd jobs at the old place, getting it all sale-ready.
But the moving's now done. Commence trading, Burke.
I'll gain some respect back for the Ducks* if they trade Mathieu to LA.
Why?
1) The only way he'll get a legit chance to win a Cup before retiring in a few years is to go back to Detroit. I think he's realized that once in his career is fine, and from the comments from his agent, he's come to grips with the fact he'll most like be on a non-contender.
2) If he's not going to win, at least he'll remain close to the most important thing to him: his family
3) He'll stay away from the scariest thing ever: his ex in Toronto. I mean, nothing worse than not winning, being away from family, and being close to a she-beast.
4) Sharks / Kings tickets are easier to get than Sharks / Ducks tickets
5) I already have a Kings jersey
So, win / win / win. Just do it already!
*not that I had much before, but that's neither here nor there))
Plus, Brian Burke already helped out a division rival because he owed it to a player (Bryz), so it's not like it would be unprecedented.

Hey, don't put it all on our shoulders. Trading is a two-way street.
I'd guess that Burke's had various Schneider-to-L.A. offers on the table for months now. I'll gain some respect back for the Kings if Lombardi accepts one of them. :)
Oh, and perhaps Lombardi signed RFA Stoll?

Link.

Whoops. Now it's 4 years at $3.6 M per year. Slight change, but now it's confirmed.
New Link.
whoah, I though for a second you really did like the Cap! Whew! Of course it seems the Kings have an internal cap. Not on ticket prices or bureaucracy, of course, but, you know, on players.
