Not too Brad!

Feel free to take a second to wince at that headline.

....

OK, so Brad Richards got off to a pretty good start. And by pretty good I mean being the first Dallas Star to record 5 assists in a single game, which happens to be his career best for helpers. Yeah, not too shabby.

Sure, it was against Patrick La-lame, but still. Check out some of the ESPN highlights and a half second of Dallas Ice Girl (not cocaine) hotness.

Since I work an absurd 1-10 pm shift on Thursdays, I missed the game but I know from the highlights that the Stars decided to line up Richards with Antii Miettinen and Niklas Hagman, who had his first career hat trick in this game.

If they keep this line together, what kind of awful pun based nickname should they have? Perhaps the Rich Hags line (or if you feel the need to include every player's name I guess they could be the Antii Rich Hags??) or the BAN line? Meh. There's time for that. I guess the first name initials gimmick would be better if we switched Hagman with Modano (cue that annoying Emeril BAM).

Richards added that he "felt like a little kid again"

The sound you just heard was the muffled groan of the 5 remaining Tampa Bay Lightning fans.

No doubt it was a hugely successful debut, but I need to see how Richards does against a quality playoff opponent. Certainly it looks really impressive, but as you note Chicago is more prone to surrendering 5-point performances (Teemu had one the game before) than most teams in the west.

It's going to be an interesting playoff year, no matter what. I'm too lazy to look it up, but are there now more Conn Smythes represented in the Pacific than in any other division?

There was nothing Lalime could do on most of those goals. Dallas put on a passing clinic.

If I remember correctly the announcer made a reference to the Harlem Globetrotters at one point.

There seems to be an increase in Dallas related posts. If someone writes posts for the Coyotes can you change the name of the site to battle of the Pacific?

When asked for comment after he was traded, Richards said something to the effect of: *paraphrasing*
Dallas plays a good team game, they play to win. It'll be good to get that feeling again.

Ouch, if you're a Tampa Bay fan.

The reason there are more Dallas Stars posts is because I, the Stars contributor, have semi-regular internet access and am not in Washington DC.

Since I probably will have "normal middle class American broadband" in 2-4 weeks, I'd say that I'll be really cranking out a lot of posts during the playoffs (especially if Dallas makes a respectable run this year).

If Richards can get some good mojo going with Hagman and Miett, that would give the Stars 3 good-to-great lines and having Barnes on a checking line isn't too bad. If nothing else, RICH makes the Stars scary for the first time since the lockout.
