Thoughts From Tonight's Game

-J.S. Aubin is terrible. I don't care how good his stats ever look, I can't stand to watch the guy play. It's like his hamstrings are made of wood or something. And his rebound control, my God, his rebound control.

-J.S. Giguere also has trouble with his rebounds. Was it just tonight, or his he always like that? I think it may be a function of being a position goaltender, where if you get caught off guard you don't know how to deflect the puck properly. Or maybe it's just if your name is Jean-Sebastian.

-Ryan Getzlaf is really good. I can't tell you how depressing that is.

-Why does Andy Macdonald spin all the time? Either it's his favorite move, or one of his legs is longer than the other.

-Dustin Brown's goal was either the most amazing or luckiest goal I've seen in a while. I'm not sure which.

-The Ducks (and Brian Hayward) really hate John Zeiler for some reason, and I have no idea why. I asked my roommate, a fairly passionate Ducks fan, why this was the case, and he replied, "Who's John Zeiler?"

-Overall, this game wasn't that big a deal. The Kings and the Ducks played it fairly evenly, the Ducks were just better at getting the bounces in front of the net. If the Kings don't beat the Coyotes on Saturday, then I'll be worried. What did you guys think?

Kings looked fantastic in the first,

Not as much in the second.

REALLY not as much in the third.

I found it funny though, after the goal late in the third, how both king announcers excitedly said, WHOAH DON'T LEAVE THEREEEEEEEE..

Another thing of note, Scott Thornton was getting in one of the Ducks' faces, carter or someone, but then backed off when Parros skated over. I'm forced to assume this was momentum-related, because of how he brutally manhandled the stache the first time.

Wow, that last sentence sounds like the sequel to a 70's gay porno.

as a ducks fan this is the Best post i Have seen from you.

Heres the secret specials:
Macdonald(spin)up up down
Perry(toe Drag) left right up
Beauchemin(shot)up
Pronger(ass beating)start

Not to be forgotten, Huskins has a +5 on the night. Not bad for a defenseman as underrated as he is.

I was there and the Duck presence wasn't nearly as strong as Spade would have you think. Kings didn't play a full 60 and lost. They have a habit of doing that.

Depressing loss...

Dustin Brown's goal was either the most amazing or luckiest goal I've seen in a while. I'm not sure which.

I don't know if that goal was mostly skill or luck, but it certainly was a jaw-dropper. I had to agree with the Kings announcers--perfect placement.

The Ducks (and Brian Hayward) really hate John Zeiler for some reason, and I have no idea why. I asked my roommate, a fairly passionate Ducks fan, why this was the case, and he replied, "Who's John Zeiler?"

I don't get it, either. Was it that hit Zeiler made (on Perry? Getzlaf?) early in Tuesday's game? I don't remember very well, but some of those early hits (including Blake's on Perry) set the tone for the first game and the first couple periods of the second game.

The way tonight's third period was played, it looked like Carlyle (during the second intermission) threatened to staple the next penalized Ducks player to the bench for the rest of the season. Or maybe it's just that the Ducks had more success controlling the puck and therefore weren't in as many situations where they were taking penalties.

Obviously, I don't speak for 'em all, but this Ducks fan digs your blogstyle. Keep it up!

I'm pretty excited. For the first time since last spring, the Ducks have more standings points than games played.

Is order being restored, or is it just a mirage created by the J.S. Aubin point-provider?

I have to admit, that was hilarious, Spade.

No, the Ducks played well last game. I was just saying that the Kings didn't play terrible. The Ducks did a much better job than the Kings at stopping the rush before the blue line.

Andy spins because he is a tiny dude and spinning helps him deflect checks...

Chimp Fox and Miller are the two biggest homers in SoCal. Really got tired of hearing about the Pronger incident after every big hit on the ice. And also got tired of hearing about the Royal Rehab or what ever they call it... after every goal, Ducks or Kings, they mentioned it..."Here we go!" or "Not happening tonight!"

Well, Jimmy defended Pronger before the game started, so I don't know what else to say about that. Also, the Kings had just come back from 4 and 2 goals down in the third period in consecutive games, so it did seem topical.

As to BOB MILLER being biased, well, I don't even know what to say.
