Trade

Kings trade Lubomir Visnovsky for Jarret Stoll and Matt Greene.

I'll have more tomorrow, but right now I'll just say: fuck.

Kings making a play for Campbell?

Even if that's the case, I still can't quite grasp this one. They got worthless garbage in return. Greene's a borderline NHLer and stoll failed it up all of last season.

Doesn't make a lot of sense for the oilers, either. They've already got Souray and Pitkanen on the powerplay. Unless, of course, Joni's on the way out. Lubo's set to make 7 million this upcoming season. If he repeats last year it'll be another massive failure for lowe. Still, if he gets back to putting up 67 points it'll be great.

Oilers make a deal and get a guy with a lot upside and give away 'assets' with little potential to make them regret the move.

Aw, poor Kings fans.

Sadly, it has to remind me of the sad day when my Vishnevski jersey became obsolete.

Well, at there's some return in Stoll (snicker) and Greene (bwa ha ha).

Joni's on his way out - Lubomir will get all the PP time he wants.

A year ago there was a lot of wishing for Visnovsky in the Oilogosphere as in "Man I wish we could get him but a) the Kings would never give him up and b) we'd have to give up the farm for him"

I mean, thanks, but what gives??

I see a new battle website brewing. "Battle for Tavares". Invite Pension Plan Puppets. It'll be great.

Personally, I like the trade! Seriously, WTF are the Kings doing?

Cookies! I mean, damn.

My guess is this might be motivated by the desire to have more salary cap flexibility in the long-term to sign the young guys to extensions, and/or Lombardi decided Visnovsky was never going to rebound from his performance last year to the point where he'd be worth the $5 million-plus a year.

Still, I hate to see my favorite Slovak leave my favorite team. Especially since that leaves, what, Handzus as the only Slovak on the Kings.

Maybe Lombardi thought he was getting Mike Green?

Really, one has to wonder how well Lombardi shopped Lubo.

I mean, this seems to have caught a lot of people by surprise; could there been a better trade return had more teams been given a chance to bid offers?

Oh well. Unlike last season, I have very little stake in where in the standings EDM finishes this year.

Blasphemy Earl. Vish jerseys are never obsolete. They live forever like Lindsay Lohan's indestructible liver. I still wear mine proudly to Ducks games, if only to identify the bandwagoners who ask me: "Wasn't Vishnevski #5, not #6?"

Great point, Morbo, though I am embarrassed now that my Vish jersey does sport a "5" on it.
