Ducks in legal trouble

Well, I don't know what to make of it just yet, but apparently Ducks owner Henry Samueli is in a bit of hot water. He was named yesterday in a civil fraud complaint against the Broadcom Corporation, and has subsequently stepped down from his position of chairman.

I don't know what this really means for Samueli or the Ducks going forward, but that didn't stop me from making it (and other Duck legal troubles) from being the subject of today's PuckToon at Fanhouse. Enjoy, and if you are inclined, feel free to discuss Wild Wing's legal qualifications in the comments.

Big business tries to hide some millions from the government, what a surprise. I would think they would need proof that he headed these kinds of discussion or had some knowledge of it for him to be in trouble.

Goodbye Christmas bonuses. Hello one year membership to the Jelly of the Month club.

Remember that one time when Wild Wing got set on fire? That was awesome.

Wait, what were we talking about?

Yeah, I doubt Samueli takes a big fall on this one, but who knows?

On a side note, if anyone's interested in an interactive liveblog of tonight's G4 between the Pens and Flyers, I've been instructed to pass along this link for tonight's Fanhouse activity.

I won't be there, but there are capable bloggers there who can help explain why the NHL will arbitrarily disallow a Pittsburgh goal tonight.

I think that's what we should be talking about.

Yeah, I have no problem with discussing that. The mascot-on-fire incident was pretty funny, though I think it happened before I was a full-fledged fan. I saw it much later and laughed.

Still, it's something we can all probably comprehend better than all the legalisms and secrecy of the SEC.

Yes, Wild Wing on fire was classic but how does it compare to SJ Sharkie being tangled up in his bungee cord and dangling high above the arena. I still remember the Red Wings skating out for the game and Shanny looking in amazement...or was it amusement? as Sharkie just hung above the arena

This and Xeana the princess warrior's nip slip are my all time favs. I watched Xeana live.

good times...

The Wild Wing one is funny to me because the idea of someone being set on fire is funny; the idea of someone falling to their death is less so, unless they're Wile E. Coyote.

Also, I appreciate that we all went to the link, read "backdating options," and then decided to talk about the time a mascot was set on fire. Good work, everyone.

Yeah, hopefully all that any BoC reader takes away from this Samueli news is that for the Ducks franchise, criminality and corruption starts at the top.

Comprehending much past that will only hurt your head.

Samueli civil fraud complaint. Objection, leading.

Todd Bertuzzi civil suit. Irrelevant questioning.

Chris Pronger. Move to strike.

"Your honor, I would like to have that stomping outburst stricken from the record."

Mr. Plank said...

Ah Pronger vs. The People of The Earth. For some reason I see us losing the criminal case, but winning a big fat civil case for tons of dough.

"Objection overruled Mr. Sleek. This incident indicates his moral character, and thus is pertinent to his case."

I'm still waiting for the inevitable Pronger divorce. I can just see the headlines and bad jokes now.

(Pronger v. Pronger; Pronger's wife will now receive half of Chris's stomps and about 4 NHL suspensions; Pronger to Edmonton: Dudes, my bad, you're right see was crazy.)
