Battle of California Playlist #2

Hockey

My list is a little bit different from PJ's because I didn't necessarily try to pick songs that I think would sound good in an arena. I mostly picked songs that I really like and seem to symbolize what hockey is to me. I have a CD I listen to on my way to the rink every time that's pretty much all loud, fast and angry music. I've always believed that hockey is an angry sport and when I drive to the rink I think about how much I hate everyone on the other team. I think about their temerity in even getting on the same field of play as me and how they actually think they're good enough to get a puck past me. By the time I get to the rink I'm ready to fight. Then I get to the rink and put on my pads and by the time I'm all warmed up I'm pretty calm and ready to go. But the music helps me get ready to play.

A few explanations:

Trogdor, by Strong Bad- Like my brother mentioned yesterday, the Kings should play "Trogdor" every time Ivanans gets into a fight. He's a dragon-man (or really just a dragon) and he needs his own song.

Bleeding Love, by Leona Lewis- I mean, that's just a good song.

Girls in Black, by Airbourne- This should be the Kings' song.

I am the Night, Coloured Black, by Priestess- That song should be on a highlight video. Just sayin'.

When You Fucked Grandpa, by blink-182- I think this song should be played in the arena, just to see the expressions on people's faces.

Mine Now, by Bullets & Octane- This song gets me really fucking pumped. It's always the last song I listen to before I get out of my car for hockey.

"When You Fucked Grandpa".. man, if you got that song played at a game, they'd hang you from the Staples Center rafters.

It's pretty fun and amusing to listen to, but please tell me it's not really on your playlist. Please tell me you just threw it in there for laughs.

I miss funny Mark and Tom

That's quite a playlist. How far do you drive to play Hockey?

Now I want to see if I can get a shot past you...

So, what's the best piece of music to accompany this news?

Bwa ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha!!!

This is ridiculous. He barely coached 15 games with the Lightning before getting canned.

There was a reason why the Lightning were 30th in the league last year. It wasn't because of Melrose. How come he gets the blame?

Benny Hill music seems about right. Hopefully this means I don't have to spend 5 minutes a night wanting to punch Matthew Barnaby in the face.

Well, aren't you Kings fans happy you lost out on that Stamkos sweepstakes? Not only is Doughty looking like a real player, but I hear that Stamkos kid is a real coach killer, too.

They should just re-name that team the Tampa Bay Hilarity.

When Tampa Bay lost to Atlanta in their last game of the season, I was so disappointed. Now, the Thrashers are my favorite Eastern Conference team.

as long as we're getting crazy, how about adding gg allin and the murder junkies? they've got plenty of good titles like:

expose yourself to kids
die, scum fuck
i wanna fuck myself

just to name a few.

i maintain that 'seven nation army' is a must for the playlist and would throw in a new one:

faith no more - woodpeckers from mars - great instrumental music for an intro to a hockey game.

btw - this is a great topic.

I could have seen Lombardi trading down for the #2 spot if that were the case, Sleek.

side note, referring to everything as a sweepstakes annoys the shit out of me. Shanahan sweepstakes? Stamkos sweepstakes? Tavares/Hedman, etc. I don't recall that happening before the Sidney "golden boy" Crosby sweepstakes.

Oh, it's only in retrospect, I think. And there's dozens of years for Stamkos to render my comment incredibly stupid.

My bad. I should have said "the Stamkos lottery". The Ducks haven't really been eligible for top pick in a long while, thus my lack of proper terminology etiquette.

Have you forgotten? the Ducks were in the Sidney Crosby sweepstakes only four years ago. They had to settle for #2, Bobby Ryan.

Nope, hadn't forgotten, but that one was actually a 30-team sweepstakes. I don't think we were abusing the term back then; that's really what it was.

Heh, "settle". We lucked into that pick; the Ducks certainly weren't among the teams with the most ping pong balls in play.

I endorse any list with Bad Religion in there though I did get nervous when I saw "New Maroon 5 single" at the bottom. Luckily that was an ad.

It's called "Color Me Black" not "Colored Black."

If you're going to steal my awesome music, at least do it justice.

Awful jackass.

Have I posted 1,000 songs yet?

Gang Green - Skate to Hell, very energetic song. here's a version from a skate video, but the original might be a tad slower and better.
