BoC Gameday—Bloggers in the house

Los Angeles Kings (30-40-6, 15th in west) at Anaheim Ducks (43-26-8, 3rd in west)

Pretty soon I'll get around to looking at Anaheim's prospective playoff matchups, and Rudy will start filling this blog with nonsense about some mythical Monarchs team, but for tonight, it's pride night at Honda Center. Two SoCal teams who've followed two separate sets of storylines since their opening pair of games in London get to meet up in Anaheim tonight, and neither team has a desperate need for wins.

And on top of it all, it's BoC blogger night, Row B Edition. There may be some impression that Rudy and I are great off-the-blog chums, but really I'll be meeting him for the second time ever tonight, and we'll be alternately cheering and crying next to the Anaheim penalty box. It's the seats that made PJ famous, so if you're in the house tonight and are feeling sociable, find a way to say hi. As usual, I'll be sporting the lucky green shirt.

I think tonight's game will also be attended by Finny, Cassie, CKim, and kms2, so there may be more bloggers than on-ice officials scattered throughout the arena.

As for the Ducks, who knows what lineup they'll be putting out there tonight? For sure Perry and Pronger are out, and Getzlaf and Giguere are both iffy. Who knows? If Carlyle plans on starting Hiller against the Sharks on Friday, maybe we'll even see Jean-Sebastien Aubin battling his former team. That'd be a hoot.

Prediction: Hopefully it's a fun one, and neither Rudy or I end up getting thrown out or quitting the blog. Ducks 4, Kings 3. Goals by Selanne, Kunitz, Pahlsson, and Ryan.

Go Ducks.

yea i assumed u and rudy bathed each other and ate bugs out of each others hair...i missed the boat on that one damn

entertaining game sj-phx last nite...of course the yotes couldnt help us out...owell guess it wasnt gonna happen anyways

hope the dux get more aggressive at homie...tired of this shitty line matching -no-forecheck-playing bullshit

Yeah, look for the girls in Kings jerseys!

And who knows what line combinations Crawford will pull out of his hat. I'm really looking forward to the #1 line of Zeiler-Kopitar-Ivanans, followed by O'Sullivan-Ellis-Handzus, Cammalleri-Willsie-Brown, and lastly, Frolov-Armstrong-Giuliano. Take that Anaheim!

You know what's weird? I don't own a single piece of Kings apparel. Huh.

Also, just so everyone knows: I'm dashing. I just didn't want you to be surprised.

Yeah, I'm hoping tonight is a low-pressure fun game, without so much emphasis on neutral zone positioning and the like. I know the Ducks need to prep up for the postseason, but that I think can wait a game or two.

Here's hoping it's fun tonight--seriousness can start tomorrow.

why dont u and rudy have little douche pics of yourselves up on the BOC page like adam brady?

haha

kings board saying aubin will start?...doubtful right?

why not give hiller all the reps he needs in case he has to pull a bryz like last 2 playoffs?

I'd start Aubin tonight if I were Carlyle, unless Giguere demanded to play. I think saving Hiller for Friday night and the Sharks makes sense, plus playing Aubin proves that Carlyle understands the relative non-importance of tonight's game.

As a fan, I'm all for it. I expect to see a more entertaining game with less quality netminding in play. Plus, as Aubin is the first NHLer to ever get traded between the Ducks and Kings franchises, why not give him a chance to show off his new clothes to his old team?

I can root for any goalie named Jean-Sebastien, apparently.

So Frolov's going to score 6 goals tonight? Good to know.

Earl Sleek said...

Careful with that prediction. It's Aubin, not Turco.

who scores with the ladies? earl or rudy?

cant predict a ducks win with aubin in net u ninny

Rudy has an advantage in that he'll talk to ladies in Kings jerseys. I just take the Pronger way out and stomp 'em.

cant predict a ducks win with aubin in net u ninny

Really? Against a last-place L.A. team with questionable motivation to win? With another non-inspiring goaltender in the other net?

Bah, whatever. I think of any sentence that starts "Can't predict a Ducks win" that I couldn't disprove with a quick post. I think I've demonstrated that predicting Ducks wins no matter the circumstances is actually one of my stronger talents.

Looks like it's Ersberg tonight. Good thing there's no one on the Ducks that can roof the puck.

You mean like this?

Unless knocking the water bottle off the top of the net to the ice doesn't count as roofing the puck.

Marchant can roof the puck! Well, into the actual roof of the building.

RudyKelly said...

Yes, I'm aware that the Ducks have the best players in the league at roofing the puck in the last 15 years.

I was, actually. :)

My mental image of Sleek was terribly inaccurate. Almost to the point of hilariousness.

I don't know why that statement cracked me up so much. Huh.

This statement scares me.

Pretty fun game last night, with a lot of silliness coming during the shootout. I know I've been warned in the past, but I'm becoming way too enamored with my new german-accented "Hail Hiller" chant.

Disappointing aspect: no fights. C'mon, Parros and Ivanans--the game didn't matter, but the fans would have ate that up.

Best aspect of being there: it was probably better than watching on TV, judging by how many text messages I got that said "I hate Hayward".

Curious aspect: I wonder how well Rudy and I will come through on a Podcast? Stay tuned...

Oddly, the seats aren't really that visible on the TV, unless the puck comes really close to our board. I've watched games where I'm at, and I usually catch a glimpse of the green shirt like once a period. You'd think it might be visible more often, but I guess they'd rather put the camera on the actual players.

p.s. what u have to drink earl?

One of my favorite elixirs: Jack Daniels on the rocks. Order two of them in the intermission, consolidate them into one cup, down it during a period, then repeat until the Ducks win (or you stop caring).

thought i might see u on an anaheim penalty..but the shot wasnt wide enough

u must have been tickled pink when sammy hit the box!!

jack on the rox ehh...need a splash of lime..then your complete..

and rudy whats that queen lover drink?

RudyKelly said...

Dude, I don't care what anyone says, it takes a real man to drink a white wine spritzer.

Earl Sleek said...

Yeah, Sammy in the box was a highlight, as was Teemu when he got that diving penalty in the third. He had a tamer mouth about this call than he was about diving penalties in the past, but he still came to the box giving the crowd a good look of incredulousness.

Glad to see him score in the shootout, though. I was hoping Crawford would find a way to measure his stickblade afterwards.

I guess it's time to let everyone know what my original mental image was of Sleek. It was "white, short, and ...rotund." He is NONE OF THESE!!!

holding rudy's wee wee while he pee-ed

I never knew there were 3 e's and a dash in that word.

Maybe I should set the record straight. I am not the Pillsbury Dough Boy. :)

Tee hee.

To be fair, I get the feeling that's CKim's mental image of every hockey blogger :P

What? Dammit! A drunk Pillsbury Dough Boy would have been hilarious!
