Waiting for a Kings Gameday Post

Dallas Stars (43-24-5, 7th in west) at Los Angeles Kings (25-34-14, 13th in west)

I’m not sure if RK is doing a post today or not, but in any event, a friend of mine from work and I will be going to Staples Center tonight to scout out the Stars (he’s a Canucks fan and so it is looking likely one of our teams will be matched up vs. Dallas first-round).

Stars are 1 point behind the Sharks and 7 points behind the Ducks with a game-in-hand on each, and have beaten the Kings all seven games this season.

This will be my 2nd visit to Staples Center this year, and the Kings beat Detroit my last time out, so maybe my mini-Kings-attendance-win-streak will kick in. The best part is—I don’t particularly care.

If anyone else is going, let me know in the comments, or just look for a guy around section 334 / Row 13 wearing a black Guinness shirt and cheering for Dallas blood.

Prediction: sadly, no blood.

No worries, sorry if I stole any of your thunder.

It's amazing, btw, how infrequently I hit up Staples Center, given that I work about six blocks away. I'll be walking to the game tonight!

Love the media guide with the X-outs. Back when they traded away Blake a few years back, they had the fridge magnet schedule give-away night early in the season, and the three Kings they had featured in the previously themed promo material had Palffy, Norstrom and Blake in seperate shots. Well, all the while the team is saying they don't want to trade him, they hand out these schedule magnets and who is replaced on the magnet? Blake is gone and Lappy is there in his place in a really poorly color matched photo. Instead of all three guys looking like they're wearing the same color jerseys, two guys are purple and Ian is there in an off-blue colored Kings jersey. Incredibly telling. "Oh yeah, we want to keep Blake, but we, for some unknown reason, have removed his photo from all our pre planned promo materials and gone with an obviously quick and sloopy replacement, and oh yeah, even though we aren't planning on moving him, had enough planning involved int he fridge magnet production to make the change a couple weeks before opening night so we could have them printed in time. But really, we want to keep the guy..."

So earl, you're a Ducks fans who works within shouting distance of the Super Store and I'm a Kings fan who could tag the Pond with a bottle cap from my workplace. Hmmm...

Yeah, funny how those things work out. In location-fairness, I grew up in Villa Park, about 15 minutes from the Pond, and my folks still got a house in Tustin that I crash at when I've had too many Honda-beers.

One of my former roommates is a huge Kings fan, and he too lives down in the OC. It's always been a running joke of ours to save ourselves the gas and switch allegiances, but alas, we are what we are. Besides, I'm already saving gas by driving a Prius :)
