John Zeiler Breaks Foote, Will Miss 3 Games

John Zeiler is dumb. If you watch the video, Adam Foote looks back behind him twice and sees Zeiler coming at him, and you can see him assume that there's no way Zeiler is going to hit him because it would clearly be boarding. Foote is so positive in this assumption that he doesn't try to protect himself at all. You could even argue that Foote was daring Zeiler to board him. And that's what Zeiler did. He plowed in and boarded the fuck out of Adam Foote. I know some people say that Foote deserved it, or that it's an unfair advantage for a defenseman if a forward can't be aggressive when getting the puck, but the NHL has made clear that if you hit a guy in the back and he hits the boards with his face then you are getting a penalty. John Zeiler hit Foote in the numbers, Foote hit the boards with his face, Zeiler got a penalty. Sounds fair. I only wish Zeiler had gotten the death penalty instead. Well, not the death penalty, that's a little far; maybe a 10-year sentence in federal "pound me in the ass" prison. That sounds about right.

Hey, another team writer used the "Suspensions" tag! Will miracles never cease?

Goddam right about the 10 year sentence! He is the worst player on the Kings. Even Ivanans contributes something. Kings really should get rid of the guy. Such a prick....

I totally disagree and think it was all Foote's fault he got injured. Why the hell is he going to the backhand with a player looming behind him in that situation? Lapperiere said he didn't see it and he's standing right there. He even picks up the puck and makes a pass. I'm not against this being a penalty in EVERY situation, but as it stands, it's not. It's the very reason Dustin Brown wasn't suspended for the hit on Ribiero.

If this was adult league it would be a cheap shot, but in the NHL it's business as usual.

Lapperiere even challenged Zeiler to a fight thinking he'd come out of the penalty box. If he thought it was a major why would he bother? Not to mention there's no arm in the air from the ref.

That was a total cheapshot. Foote was looking over his shoulder to see where the pressure was and where he could pass it, a veteran move. After Foote hit the boards, I think it was right that Lapperiere tried to take him out. Its hockey, gota look out for your team, and Lapperiere proves it on several occassions. I think Zeiler should have a suspension coming and not just a 4 min. major penalty.

And then the delay call on the refs part. How could you not instantly call a penalty on that after seeing it. He waited til Foote was down to make the call.

Props to Foote for showing how tough of a player he is and skating over to the bench. Next kings game, hell have his chance to get back at em. I know Lapperiere will be out for a fight next time they play em.

I think Brendan Morrison just broke his Tucker.

Zeiler is just Sean Avery with less skill and sex appeal.

At least he won't be with us when we play Conroy, Cammy, Lubo and Garon.

"Iginla and Souray, huh? That's cool. Yeah, no, we still have Zeiler. Yea, he- what's funny?"

I'm sorry, Mrs. Zeiler, it's all in good fun.
