Fascinating chart! I'm fascinated with penalty kills and I'd love to see the Stars compared to the BoC teams.

I'm not as sophisticated an observer, so I'm not sure what makes theirs so good. Plus, the Stars are the only ones I watch that closely.

One thing the Stars seem to do, when they're on, is just not let the power play get into the zone. I'd guess that the number of shots is very low, like the Sharks. It would just be a guess.

Maybe a Pacific division comparison would be interesting for you BoCers?

watching the sharks PK last nite..I realized how more aggressive they are as opposed to how passive our team plays the Pk....the sharks play aggressive but somehow do no get out of position...wonder how that factors in...cool chart..fo sho

p.s. frankie is due for a goal no doubt...I think his lack of scoring ahs to due with getting beat when his shot gets blocked...maybe with nieds back hell be a little more confident..case in point (and Ive suggested this to hnidy as well) pronger needs to have a clinic on the art of not getting your shot blocked...chapter one = look up when you shoot

I think that sort of analysis is possible for sure--mostly what I've seen about rebounds is that they can be selected with criteria--a shot that happens within 2 or 3 seconds of a previous shot, something like that.

Really, my head is spinning a bit thinking of all the possibilities--I think it would be cool to see these sorts of charts when a specific player is on the ice, too. How does Pronger's 4-on-5 experience differ from Beauchemin's (for example)? How would Getzlaf's PP look compared to Weight's?

Like I say, it's tough at this point to draw too much out of these 'first-blush' charts, but it's cool to think about where they could be incorporated and studied.

Cool stuff! I'm wondering if it's possible to annotate a "second chance" shot. With the amount of pucks getting past JSG from the slot, it'd be interesting to see how many of those were rebounds. Rebound control ought to be coachable - for the goalie, and for the D.
